New Orleans Police have publicly sought help in tracking down a man accused of theft in a recent incident. The suspect, identified as Todd Francis, is wanted for allegedly stealing a package from an apartment building's mail room on Orleans Avenue last week. In a report by the NOPD News, authorities state that Francis, described as a Black male born on March 15, 1992, took a package containing a passport from the 3900 block of Orleans Avenue around 6:45 p.m. last Sunday.
Investigators on the case have obtained a warrant for his arrest following the incident. The passport belonged to the victim whose identity has not been made public. According to NOPD News, the theft not only included the package but also entailed identity theft, which suggests a greater implication than the physical act of stealing parcels.
The New Orleans Police Department is turning to the community for assistance, asking anyone with information regarding Francis's whereabouts to step forward. Todd Francis's photograph has been circulated in connection with the search. The NOPD has not released details on the method of the identity theft or how the stolen package ties into the larger accusation.
Residents especially those in the vicinity of the 3900 block of Orleans Avenue, are urged to maintain vigilance and report any tips that could lead to the suspect's apprehension. The local police emphasize the importance of community cooperation in cases like these and assure confidentiality for those who come forward.
