Commuters on U.S. Route 63 can expect nighttime delays starting next Monday due to lane closures. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced that interchange improvements at U.S. Route 63 and Boone County Route AC, also known as Grindstone Parkway, will require closing one lane of northbound U.S. Route 63. The nightly lane closures will take place starting from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and are expected to last until July 14 as crews work on widening the outside lane.

As part of the same project, traffic flow alterations on New Haven Road are also slated to begin mid-month. Originally set to start on July 7, the closure of New Haven Road has been postponed one week to July 14. The affected stretch will be from west of Warren Drive to just east of the westernmost entrance to the Woodstock Community. According to MoDOT, this closure will extend through mid-August. Notably, all construction schedules are tentative and subject to change based on weather conditions.

In an effort to maintain safety in work zones, MoDOT is urging drivers to take precautions. "MoDOT asks all motorists to work with us by buckling up, putting your phone down, obeying all traffic signs, and slowing down and moving over in work zones," the department shared in a statement issued recently. The emphasis on safety comes as both an appeal and a reminder to the public that active construction areas present heightened risks.

The agency also stresses that the scheduled infrastructure upgrades are weather-permitted, highlighting the sometimes unpredictable nature of such work. Motorists are advised to stay informed about the latest developments on closures and detours by checking updates from MoDOT.
