
An incident involving an off-duty Atlanta Police Department officer led to a physical altercation and subsequent arrest on June 29, reported the Atlanta PD. Around 1:28 AM, authorities were called to X Midtown on 990 Piedmont Avenue NE following reports of a dispute that turned physical. Officer Garrett Rolfe, 32, and Raefeael Penrice, 52, were the primary individuals involved in this disturbance, according to the police statement.
The confrontation began with a verbal exchange that escalated, though details of what led to the altercation have not been made public. The preliminary findings resulted in Mr. Penrice's arrest for Simple Battery and Battery, who was then transported to Fulton County Jail for processing, while the actions of Officer Rolfe, who was off-duty at the time, has led to him being placed on paid administrative leave while the Office of Professional Standards conducts an investigation, which was reported on Atlanta PD’s official website.
The Atlanta Police Department stated that the Office of Professional Standards will review the incident involving Officer Rolfe. The department has not yet released further details about the timeline or scope of the investigation.
