As the nation marked its independence through fireworks and festivities, the Oklahoma City Fire Department remained occupied with a barrage of emergency calls. In a social media post, the Oklahoma City Fire Department outlined its Fourth of July operations, citing nearly 400 calls that came through, covering a range of incidents from structure and trash fires to vehicle-related conflagrations.
Despite the celebratory backdrop, firefighters in OKC had their hands full. The Facebook update by the Oklahoma City Fire Department revealed "Structure Fires: 8" and "Trash Fires: 28," highlighting the sheer volume of fire incidents that competed with fireworks in lighting up the night sky. Notably, there was a single water-related emergency and a couple of grass fires, which, in the midst of such chaotic times, the firefighters dealt with promptly.
The breakdown of the calls further mentioned three smoke investigations that the department conducted, following up on reports that, amid the pyrotechnics, could easily have gone unnoticed. In addition to these, there were three vehicle fires that required the swift attention of the fire personnel. The Oklahoma City Fire Department's commitment can be summed up in its own words: "We are proud of our firefighters who worked tirelessly to protect lives and property throughout the night."
