El Paso commuters faced significant delays on Wednesday morning following a rollover crash on Interstate 10 at Geronimo. The incident, which occurred around 10:13 a.m., resulted in serious injuries to one individual. According to KFOX-TV, the collision disrupted traffic on one of the city's major roadways.
First responders arriving at the scene indicated that the person had sustained serious injuries in the wreckage. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. KVIA reported the timing of the call and the immediate response by the El Paso Fire Department.
Traffic on the freeway was notably affected due to the emergency response and vehicle recovery efforts. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) informed commuters that the left two lanes on I-10 East near Airway were closed for an extended period. Further complicating the morning commute, the on-ramp to Interstate 10 at Geronimo was also shut down, causing backups extending to the Geronimo area. KTSM cited TxDOT's statement regarding the closures and ensuing traffic backlog.
