The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is currently probing into a fatal shooting that rattled the Okmulgee community in the early hours last Saturday. As reported by KFOR, Okmulgee Police Department and the Muscogee Creek Nation Lighthorse Police Department were dispatched to the corner of Martin Luther King Street and North Wilson Avenue following reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers discovered 25-year-old Devontae Hanson with a gunshot wound. The injured man was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. According to KFOR, the incident is being treated as a homicide.
Details surrounding the shooting remain scarce. What's known is that the OSBI was called in by the Okmulgee Police to lead the investigation, an involvement that suggests the complexity and seriousness of the case. As highlighted by KTUL, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, indicating that the perpetrator or perpetrators remain at large.
"OSBI said as of now, there have been no arrests made, and this is still an ongoing investigation," corroborated FOX23 in their coverage of the unsettling event. The authorities have yet to release additional information regarding potential suspects or the circumstances leading up to the shooting. An appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward would be the logical next step in these type of cases, although such an appeal has not been made public at this time.
As the investigation unfolds, officials are urging anyone who might have information related to the incident to reach out to the OSBI or the local police. For updates on this story, the public can refer to sources like FOX23 and KTUL, which are closely following developments.
