Osceola County's Sheriff's Office has recently found itself amidst controversy as two of its team members have been arrested on felony charges, marking a troubling moment for the department. In a press conference, Sheriff Chris Blackmon detailed the circumstances surrounding the arrests of civilian Cassandra Wirthlin and former deputy Kyle Henry, distancing these events from the current administration's practices. As reported by WFTV, Blackmon disclosed that Wirthlin had served in the office for nearly a decade before her engagement in unlawful behavior led swiftly to her termination and subsequent arrest.
According to the Sheriff, the infractions in question relate directly to a prior leadership's tenure. "I want you to know that this comes from the prior administration," Blackmon said, pinpointing a period of oversight that has now been brought under scrutiny. To allegedly use her position to commit infractions, Wirthlin now faces charges for unauthorized access and misuse of communication devices.
