Palm Beach County is stepping up its efforts to combat housing instability and homelessness with the launch of its flagship Housing Leadership Academy this fall. The nine-month program is designed to equip local leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to develop innovative solutions for affordable housing, as stated in the county’s official announcement.
The intensive curriculum will cover topics like Fair Housing laws, housing development, and finance. Aimed at current and emerging leaders from nonprofits, government agencies, and community organizations, the program provides both expertise and practical strategies for turning ideas into real-world impact.
A certificate of completion and CEUs from the Florida Certification Board are at the finish line for those who go the distance. "Participants will have opportunities to build cross-sector connections, deepen their expertise and develop practical skills to advance affordable housing and homelessness response efforts," according to the announcement published by Palm Beach County.
This big initiative is a team effort. The academy is launching with support from the Housing Leadership Council of Palm Beach County and Florida Atlantic University. These partners bring strong skills in evaluation and strategy to help track progress and make sure the program delivers real results. With FAU on board, the academy is focused on meeting the community’s need for practical, effective housing solutions.
Those interested in the program should mark July 24 for a live webinar that will provide a full overview. Applications open July 28 on the program’s website. The inaugural cohort begins October 10, committing six to eight hours each month.
