Portland's art scene is about to get a financial boost, and local creatives have just over two months to stake their claim. The Regional Arts & Culture Council’s Portland Arts Project Grant Program is officially accepting applications, as per an announcement made available by the Office of Arts & Culture. Submissions are open until September 24, 2025, so if you’re an artist or represent an arts organization in the area, now's the time to hastily get your documents in order.
The gist is simple: Grants of up to $5,000 are up for grabs, aiming to invariably support the creation and dissemination of art in the community. This opportunity is not limited to lone artists; arts businesses and nonprofits are also in the running for a piece of the fiscal pie. For those concerned about the scarcity of arts funding, this program provides meaningful support, facilitating a wide range of presentations, events, and developmental opportunities for Portland’s cultural leaders.
According to the Portland Office of Arts & Culture, the Regional Arts & Culture Council is one of three grantmaking contractors partnered with for its Small Grants Program. In addition to RACC, the office collaborates with MusicOregon and Friends of IFCC to distribute financial encouragement to the local arts sphere.
Money talks—and in this case, it's speaking to the tune of $1,200,000. That's how much the Office of Arts & Culture has allocated to RACC for distribution in the art scene during the 2025–26 fiscal year. To put it into perspective, the same amount was awarded last year to a staggering 275 recipients—consisting of both individual artists and organizations who channeled these funds directly into the heart of Portland’s artistic endeavors. The funds originate from the City of Portland’s General Fund, supplemented by the Arts Access Fund, which is supported by the Arts Tax.
