Portland drivers should brace for significant traffic disruptions as the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) embarks on comprehensive repairs at the intersection of SE 82nd Avenue and Division Street starting August 4 through August 16, according to an announcement made by the city. The upgrades are set to provide new, smoother pavement and replace deteriorated sections of the roadway, promising a more reliable driving surface.

The project is scheduled to commence on Monday, August 4, with Raimore Construction at the helm; they'll work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and, to mitigate disturbances, will carry out nighttime work on two Fridays—August 8 and August 15—kicking off at 8 p.m. and wrapping by 5 a.m. the following morning, as reported on the Portland government's official website.

During this busy construction period, traffic management will see only one lane open in each direction on SE 82nd Avenue, the signal at the Division intersection will be switched off, and flaggers will assume control of directing vehicles, as stated by the City of Portland. For motorists navigating north and south along 82nd Avenue, traveling straight or executing right turns at the intersection will be feasible, however, left turns onto Division Street will be off the table during operation hours.

Initial efforts by Raimore Construction will target the west side of the street, after which they will transition to the east side to address the severely deteriorated pavement that has experienced significant cracking and water damage—both on the surface and underneath.
