Portland experienced a moment of violence in an otherwise tranquil neighborhood Sunday afternoon, leaving one man dead from a stabbing. According to Portland Police Bureau, the Powellhurst-Gilbert community is now grappling with the aftermath of the tragic incident that occurred inside a residence on the 11400 block of Southeast Boise Street.

Portland Police Bureau received a call about the incident at approximately 3:19 p.m. and quickly descended upon the scene. The suspect didn't remain at large for long; by 4:03 p.m., officers were able to make telephone contact and subsequently detain an adult male close to the scene. Officials have indicated that no additional suspects are currently being pursued in this matter.

The Portland Police Homicide Unit has started an investigation. Southeast Boise Street, between 114th and 116th Avenues, is still closed to the public. Anyone with information is asked to help.
