Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office conducted a crackdown operation targeting impaired drivers across Precinct 4 during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. According to a Facebook post by the Constable's Office, 31 individuals were arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated as part of efforts to reduce DWI-related incidents and accidents during the holiday period.

The arrests began with routine traffic stops during which drivers exhibited signs of intoxication. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered to assess impairment, as detailed in official statements released after the operation. In addition to the 31 DUI arrests, three individuals were taken into custody on unrelated charges, reflecting the broader enforcement activity during the operation.

Among those arrested were repeat offenders: Tazia Dukes, Christopher Gillyard, and Heythel Kanashiro face charges for their third DWI, while Asia Johnson, Kenneth Titus, and Abraham Zamarron face charges for their second. Other charges from the operation include felony evading and tampering with evidence for Rolando Cedillo, racing on the highway for Cesar Chavez, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon for Aaron Lawrence.

Constable Mark Herman said, "We don’t wait for tragedy to strike—we prevent it," highlighting the operation’s preventative focus, with each arrest considered both a law enforcement effort and a means to protect lives, as stated in the department's post.
