Redwood City was the scene of a significant police operation yesterday as officers from the Redwood City Police Department arrested two suspects on a slew of weapons and narcotics charges. The arrests are the result of an investigation into a firearm discharged negligently, as disclosed in a statement from the department.
Officers encountered 27-year-old Zheng Fang while following up on the incident. Once stopped, a loaded handgun was found "in plain view where he had been seated in his vehicle," according to the Redwood City Police Department. Further searches of Fang's vehicle uncovered two more firearms, portions of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. A subsequent search at the residence Fang shares with his girlfriend, Yixuan Wang, netted additional firearms, ammunition, and firearm manufacturing equipment.
Yixuan Wang, aged 25, was not found lacking in contraband either, as officers discovered narcotics paraphernalia and parts for "Ghost" guns in her vehicle. When their shared residence was searched, executing a warrant authorized by the RCPD's Street Crimes Suppression Team and detectives alongside ATF agents, law enforcement uncovered a total of "five (5) complete handguns were recovered, along with several incomplete firearms," revealed the Redwood City Police Department. Fang and Wang were subsequently booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility, facing various weapons charges.
