The Saint Paul City Council recently announced the addition of two pivotal figures to its central staff leadership, with Kumud Verma stepping in as Chief Budget Officer and Tim Greenfield filling the role of Chief Policy Officer. According to the city's press release, these additions aim to solidify the council's ability to scrutinize and influence policy and budget matters.
Reporting directly to Jay Willms, the newly appointed Director of Operations, the duo will form a crucial part of the City Council's legislative force. "These hires reflect our commitment to building a policy team that is not only technically strong but also grounded in public service values," Willms communicated. Kumud Verma is no stranger to financial strategy, bringing over twenty years of expertise, her last position being the Finance Director for the City of Richfield. Greenfield, on the other hand, contributes over a decade of legislative experience, having worked as a nonpartisan attorney with the Minnesota Senate, focusing primarily on the Transportation Committee.
"I am pleased to join the Saint Paul team and look forward to contributing to the City's mission and values," Verma told Saint Paul's official news update. Tim Greenfield expressed his dedication as well, stating, "I am honored to join the City Council as its Chief Policy Officer and excited to support the Council’s work on behalf of the people of Saint Paul."
The council's central staff is no newcomer to policy and research, but Verma and Greenfield's appointments seek to complement the skills of other team members like Shari Moore, Marcia Moermond, Nhia Vang, and Veronica Burt. This move is designed to enhance the Council's legislative priorities and strategic decision-making capabilities, ensuring that constituents' interests are always at the helm of governance.
