The San José Police Department is actively investigating a fatal traffic collision that has added another stark number to this year's toll. On June 28, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of W. Taylor Street and Spring Street. According to the San José Police Department, the incident involved a 2022 gray Tesla Type X and resulted in the pedestrian sustaining life-threatening injuries.
Despite prompt transportation to a local hospital and medical efforts, the injuries proved fatal. Yesterday, the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office declared that the pedestrian, an adult female, passed away last Friday, succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident. The driver of the Tesla remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. This unfortunate event marks the 14th traffic-related death in San José for the year 2025, half of which have been pedestrian fatalities.
The San José Police Department has released no information regarding the identity of the victim, stating that details will be shared by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office at a later time. The case is ongoing, and Detective Bowen of the SJPD's Traffic Investigations Unit is the lead investigator on the fatal collision. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to step forward. Detective Bowen can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at 408-277-4654.
