In a recent turn of events, the San José Police Department apprehended 27-year-old Lizandro Castillo, a San José resident, on charges of robbery, brandishing a firearm, and making criminal threats, as reported by the SJPD news release. The arrest came after an investigation into a May 9 incident on Charlotte Avenue, where the adult male victim was assaulted during an attempted sale of a gaming console.
The case unfolded just before 1 AM, when Castillo allegedly accosted the seller, threatened his life, and fled with the entertainment device, leaving the victim shaken and without recourse but to report the assault to the authorities. Pursuing leads, the SJPD Robbery Unit Detectives identified Castillo and secured warrants for his arrest and a search of his residence. He was detained in Sacramento last Tuesday and is currently housed at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
According to the police, the investigation demonstrated tenacity, spanning several weeks and culminating with Castillo's capture far from the scene of the crime. The SJPD has made a plea to the public, inviting anyone with information relevant to this case to step forward.
