The Sevierville Police Department is reaching out to the community with an open invitation to break bread, or perhaps more fittingly, to grill burgers at its upcoming Cookout with the Cops event. Scheduled for August 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., this community event is positioned as a bridge between law enforcement and the people they serve. It's set to unfold in the outdoor spaces of the quaint Kodak community at New Hope Church, located on the lively Winfield Dunn Parkway.
In an exercise of community spirit, the cookout will not only feature complimentary food but also showcase a variety of vehicles and equipment from the first responder's arsenal. The list of partners joins together the Sevierville Police Department, alongside the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Sevierville Fire Department, among others. A recent Facebook post from the police department expressed their gratitude towards the community, a sentiment emphasized by SPD Chief Joseph Manning. "The support we receive from our community is very appreciated and not something that we take for granted," Manning noted, indicating the event's underlying goal of reinforcing police-community ties.
Strong support for the cookout comes from local businesses and organizations, SPD extends a special thank you to event sponsors which include Tennessee State Bank, Bass Pro, Target, and New Hope Church, strengthening the community-centric approach of the event.
