Tragedy struck on an Oregon interstate last Thursday when, a single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 50-year-old man. The incident occurred on Interstate 84 near Boardman in Morrow County, as reported by the Oregon State Police. According to FlashAlert, Timothy W. Nelson was driving a gray Honda Odyssey when, for reasons yet unclear, his vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with the end of a guardrail.
Despite the rapid response of emergency crews, Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene. The fatal event took place at around 10:28 p.m., near milepost 162, where the eastbound lanes of the interstate saw a brief interruption. The highway was encumbered for about half an hour as law enforcement and first responders worked the area. This led to temporary traffic disruptions, though the interstate resumed normal flow shortly thereafter.
The Oregon State Police, alongside local Morrow County Sheriff's Office and Boardman's police and fire departments, were present to manage the scene. The Oregon Department of Transportation also lent their assistance to address the aftermath of the crash and ensure safety for other motorists during the investigation.
