New Orleans has had its fair share of notoriety over the years, but today we're looking at a crime of a decidedly unglamorous nature: illegal dumping. Dominic John Tauzer, a Slidell business owner, was pinned for tossing trash from his business onto the ground near the Michoud exit off Interstate 10. NOPD took Tauzer into custody, putting the brakes on what might have been a series of environmental misdeeds.
Around 2:30 p.m. on June 28, Tauzer was allegedly caught in the act, his vehicle documented before and after the illicit drop-off in images cited by the NOPD News release. The evidence was fairly clear: what was once a trailer full of refuse ended up strewn along the side of a major roadway, disregarding local laws and the welfare of the community.
Tauzer, a white male born on December 9, 1978, might not have considered the ramifications of his actions. According to Louisiana's Revised Statute 2531.1, "Gross littering prohibited; criminal penalties; indemnification," such an act is not just frowned upon but explicitly illegal, carrying with it criminal penalties which now Tauzer faces, as mentioned on NOPD News.
