
A 20-year-old Slidell man has been taken into custody by the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) for his involvement in a deadly hit-and-run collision, as reported by NOPD News. The incident, which took place last Sunday, resulted in the death of a 53-year-old woman driving a Mazda 626 on Interstate 10 in New Orleans East.
The crash transpired near the Read Boulevard exit on I-10 Eastbound shortly before 10 p.m. on the mentioned date, the police investigation indicates the Mercedes Benz operated by Dyllan Parr rear-ended a possibly stationary Mazda, went airborne before striking a concrete guardrail, after which Parr deserted the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Dyllan Parr, born June 20, 2005, turned himself in to authorities yesterday, accompanied by legal counsel. Following his surrender, Parr was apprehended and faces charges for hit and run with serious injury or death under R.S.14:100. The NOPD disclosed that Parr allegedly confessed to striking the Mazda and fleeing the accident site during their interview with him.
