Tragedy struck on Tuesday when a speed contest turned deadly on State Route 84. The California Highway Patrol Dublin Area officers reported to a fatal crash near Pigeon Pass around 6:15 PM. According to a social media post by CHP Dublin, a Lexus IS 250 and a GMC Sierra pick-up were engaged in a high-speed race when the Lexus lost control, veering into the opposing lane and colliding head-on with an eastbound Honda Civic. The collision resulted in the death of the Honda driver at the scene.
The Lexus's driver sustained major injuries and required an airlift to Regional Medical Center in San Jose, while the GMC pick-up fled westward on State 84. The authorities are still piecing together the exact circumstances that led to the crash and have not ruled out the influence of alcohol or drugs. The runaway GMC is a lifted four-door 2500 model with black rims and oversized tires, equipped with a receiver hitch, tow mirrors, and chrome bumpers.
Officers at CHP Dublin are actively seeking information from the public regarding the fatal incident. "If you witnessed the crash or can provide pertinent information about the suspect vehicle or driver, please get in touch with the Dublin Area and ask to speak to Investigating Officer G.
