Drivers in St. Charles County should be aware that the St. Charles Police Department has announced a series of DWI saturation patrols scheduled for this summer. The initiative, shared in a Facebook post, is part of a coordinated effort involving local law enforcement agencies—including county and city police, as well as the Missouri State Highway Patrol—to address impaired driving through increased patrols.
These saturation patrols are aimed at identifying not only alcohol-impaired drivers but also those under the influence of drugs. Drug Recognition Experts will be part of the enforcement effort. The St. Charles City Police Department, St. Charles County Police Department, St. Peters Police Department, O'Fallon Missouri Police Department, Lake Saint Louis Police Department, Wentzville Missouri Police Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol will work together to patrol high-traffic areas with the goal of improving roadway safety and preventing incidents related to impaired driving.
Police are also encouraging community members to support the effort. The St. Charles Police Department advises residents to talk with friends and family about making safe choices and to plan ahead for a sober ride home, whether by using a rideshare service or designating a driver.
