Tragedy struck early Monday in Breckenridge Hills as a 45-year-old bicyclist from St. Louis was hit and killed by an SUV. The incident occurred on St. Charles Rock Road at Cotes Avenue around 12:20 a.m., as reported by KSDK. The Missouri State Highway Patrol states that the victim, who was crossing the road from north to south, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle involved, a 2023 Infiniti QX50, was traveling westbound on St. Charles Rock Road at the time of the collision. The 38-year-old woman driving the Infiniti remained at the scene, as confirmed by FOX2now. It's currently unknown if a bicyclist was wearing a helmet, but the driver of the SUV was wearing her seatbelt.
STLtoday notes that Cpl. Dallas Thompson of the patrol mentioned the Infiniti having the right-of-way.
