In response to a shooting incident that unsettled the neighborhood of Fox Park last month, the SLMPD is stepping up their presence, addressing both gunfire and the more benign, albeit illegal, explosion of fireworks in the area. According to a social media post by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the holiday weekend was marred by reports of firearms being discharged alongside celebratory fireworks in Fox Park, leading to police intervention.
Upon the police's arrival, several individuals sporting ski masks and carrying man bags were identified, the latter found to be stashing guns with conversion devices enabling full automatic fire, while officers also confiscated an assortment of fireworks. The crackdown in the park resulted in the apprehension of three adults and two juveniles; the adults facing the grave repercussions of their actions, as the Circuit Attorney's Office has already slapped an 18-year-old man with two counts of Unlawful Possession of an Illegal Weapon whereas the minors have found themselves in Juvenile Detention.
St. Louis police are increasing their presence in Fox Park following recent violence. The goal is to prevent further incidents and help restore a sense of safety in the area.
