The Stuart Police Department is currently investigating a series of car burglaries that took place yesterday morning, where thieves exploited unlocked vehicles and absconded with valuables, including at least three firearms. The burglaries occurred between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., across multiple neighborhoods such as Dolphin Drive, Madison Avenue, and SE Flamingo Avenue, as reported by CBS12 News.

In a statement obtained by CBS12 News, Lt. Brian Bossio of the Stuart Police Department stressed the gravity of the situation, remarking, "This is public safety issue. We need to make sure that people are responsible gun owners; that they don’t leave their weapons in their vehicle at night. They secure their property and that they make sure that this does not happen to them because this affects the entire community when firearms are in the wrong hands.”

Meanwhile, a parallel report from WPBF also notes the spate of car break-ins and echoes the Stuart Police Department's advice to the community, which is simplistically efficacious: Always lock your car and never leave anything valuable inside. The department is urging residents to review footage from home security or doorbell cameras during the reported time frame to assist in identifying the culprits.

SPD has taken active steps to address community concerns by urging anyone living in the affected areas to check their vehicles for missing items and to report any suspicious activity or submit relevant security footage to the department's online portal. "Let's work together to make it as difficult as possible for burglars to target our community," SPD said in a news release covered by CBS12 News. Residents can contact the Stuart Police Department at 772-287-1122 with information about the break-ins or to report unusual activity.
