St. Charles Parish will experience multiple road closures and construction activities as part of the Parish Road Maintenance Program. The work includes asphalt resurfacing, patching, milling, and paving across various locations. Those traveling from today through July 26 should anticipate disruptions and consider alternative routes where available.
According to a news release from St. Charles Parish, Barriere Construction began work yesterday, starting with milling on Post Street between LA 18 and Railroad Drive in Killona. On the same day, paving operations led to a full closure of Schexnaydre Lane in Destrehan, with no access available for emergency vehicles. Flaggers are present to manage traffic where feasible, and residents should be prepared for temporary stops or detours.
Although no state road closures have been announced, local roads are significantly affected. Vans Lane, located between LA 48 and the dead end in Destrehan, is scheduled for full closures on Saturday and again on July 22, limiting access for both residents and emergency services during those times.
Additional traffic impacts are expected due to paving scheduled on Badeaux Lane East and Frickey Lane in Bayou Gauche on July 23. Construction will also take place on Killona Drive, Short Street, Railroad Drive, and Schoolhouse Road in Killona between July 24 and July 25. Traffic will be managed by onsite personnel, though significant slowdowns are anticipated during these operations.
Ormond Center Court in Destrehan is also scheduled for summer infrastructure work on July 26. The section between Rotolo's Pizza and Buddy's Frostop will be under construction, with a detour in place to maintain vehicle access.
As the Parish proceeds with scheduled infrastructure work, commuters are advised to monitor official updates and use alternate routes as necessary. A complete list of road closures and related information is available on the Parish website.
