The Summit County Sheriff's Office reported the incident occurred on Weber Canyon Road, with the crash being first reported around 6 p.m., as mentioned by FOX 13.
Responding officers discovered the teenager and his motorcycle approximately 7 miles east of the canyon’s base after a passerby encountered the aftermath. Sgt. Skyler Talbot of the Summit County Sheriff's office noted, as obtained by KSL that the young rider, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, tragically died from his injuries before emergency services could render aid the crash, believed to have happened roughly half an hour prior, a tragic period where a lone helmet couldn't rewrite an ill-fated script.
Initial investigation determined that the teen was traveling eastward and "failed to navigate a turn." This error caused the motorcycle to fall and slide into a fence post, which led to the fatal injuries, as reported by ABC4.
