
Authorities in District 3 are currently seeking a suspect connected with a theft that took place in Lafayette Square on June 23. The incident, which was reported by the victim, involved the suspect admitting to opening and taking items from a package at the victim's residence in the 1700 block of Park Avenue, as detailed in a recent post by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
The theft occurred around 3:30 p.m., when the victim encountered the unidentified male who was in possession of her recently delivered parcel contents. She confronted the suspect, who confessed to the theft and returned nearly all of the items, except for a pair of brown textured pull-on shorts. According to the victim's account, the suspect then fled the scene.
Description of the suspect has been released to the public: he is a black male, estimated to be between the ages of 17 and 19, with a short afro hairstyle. His attire at the time included a St. Louis Blues hooded sweatshirt, light faded distressed ripped jeans, white socks, and multi-colored rainbow slippers. The police are actively soliciting the help of the community to safely locate and identify the suspect.
While the suspect did return most of the items, the stolen shorts remain unaccounted for, and the ongoing search efforts are to not only recover the remaining property but to also address the criminal act.
