In Dunwoody, a heist for copper turned perilous when a man, Muneer Aziz, and his accomplice attempted to filch the metal from a live electrical box. According to WSB-TV, the incident unfolded on Monday night after authorities received a 911 call about an injured man near Perimeter Center Parkway.

Upon arrival, the police deduced that the man had been electrocuted during the attempted theft. As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, they uncovered an open electrical box, replete with tools and traces of blood on the scene. Aziz received a ride to the hospital from a woman who was purportedly serving as his lookout during the botched burglary.

After receiving medical treatment, it was not just physical repercussions that Aziz and the unnamed woman had to contend with. Authorities confirmed that following their hospital visit, the pair were arrested and face charges. The Dunwoody Police Department, not without a sense of irony, remarked on the situation, stating "Guess crime doesn't always pay... and sometimes it really hurts," in a Facebook post, according to Fox 5.

Aziz was booked into the DeKalb County Jail, shouldering multiple charges including burglary, the possession, of tools for commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. As for the woman involved in the incident, while her identity remains undisclosed, she too faces judicial proceedings in relation to the attempted copper theft. "After receiving treatment at the hospital, both suspects were absolutely 'shocked' when they found out they were being 'charged,’" said the police, as per WSB-TV.
