A man identified as Cemal Wade, 43, with a history of felony convictions, was taken into custody on Monday after a traffic stop gone awry led to a car crash and the discovery of drugs in his vehicle. Wade, wanted on several drug warrants out of Wilson County, was recognized by detectives from the Violent Crimes Division driving a Nissan Maxima on Clarksville Pike, where he subsequently engaged in a vehicular collision involving two other cars.
The chase began when detectives attempted to pull Wade over. Instead of complying, Wade continued to drive his disabled Maxima through the intersection of Clarksville Pike at Kings Lane, resulting in a collision with two other vehicles. The impact caused minor injuries to the occupants of the struck vehicles, while Wade was hospitalized with injuries described as non-life-threatening, according to a report by the Nashville Government's official website.
During the investigation at the crash site, law enforcement officers discovered a stash of illegal substances in Wade's car. The inventory included cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and hydrocodone, as noted by the Nashville Government's press release. These findings are anticipated to result in multiple drug possession charges for Wade.
Once medically cleared, Wade is set to face an array of charges, spanning from evading arrest to aggravated reckless driving and driving on a revoked license. These charges will add to his impending legal battles in Wilson County, where he was already sought for drug-related offenses.
