Emergency crews from the San Francisco Fire Department, the Police Department, and the United States Coast Guard leaped into action yesterday to rescue an individual who had fallen into the Bay near the Ferry Building. The incident unfolded just before 9:30 in the morning, when a Bay Ferry crew member quickly tossed a life preserver ring to the person in distress, anchoring the collaborative rescue efforts until further help could arrive.
Rescue swimmers were not slow to darely plunge into the frigid waters, their efforts coalescing with rescue boats 35 and 1 to carefully execute the operation.
