The grim case of a Tavares mother and her partner has culminated in indictments following the death of 10-year-old Xavier Williams, who prosecutors allege was subjected to excruciating cruelty at the hands of Kimberley Mills, his mother, and her boyfriend Andre Walker.
According to ClickOrlando, the indictment includes charges of principal to first-degree murder, principal to aggravated child abuse with aggravated battery, and principal to aggravated child abuse with malicious punishment, revealing a chilling timeline of abuse with objects such as a dumbbell, boxing gloves, flashlights, and a copper rod. Police say the story took a horrifying turn when hospital staff discovered that Xavier had gone into cardiac arrest and had serious injuries, including bruises and burn marks. Realizing police were on their way, the couple reportedly fled the hospital.
The house of horror described by detectives allegedly featured items such as a ladder, a 10-pound weight, and duct tape, which were reportedly used in torturous acts against Xavier and his younger brother, with the Tavares Police Department expressing that his life was marked by unspeakable suffering. Xavier, after being brought to the hospital by Mills and Walker, did not recover, succumbing to his injuries and setting the stage for formal murder charges to be brought forth against the pair, as reported by WESH.
The State Attorney's Office has announced its intent to pursue the death penalty, a response proportionate to the grievous nature of the crimes. Walker and Mills were arrested in February and are now facing charges in court. A Lake County grand jury has indicted them, ensuring the case moves forward as the community watches and justice is sought for Xavier.
