First on the list, the Company Canal Bridge on LA 24 at LA 316, a seasoned bridge first erected in 1951, now sports a fresh look. Thanks to James Construction Group, LLC, and their $30.4 million investment, drivers can now cross the new bridge, which opened its lanes on June 30, according to a DOTD announcement. In similar positive news, the Boudreaux Canal Bridge on LA 56, dating back to 1959, may greet cars again sooner than expected – by the end of July, bringing forward its original August deadline.
We're also seeing progress over at the Bayou Dularge Bascule Bridge on LA 315, which saw its motors damaged, now in the midst of a rehabilitation affair with Reliant Industrial Solutions. Beyond motor reconditioning, this 1977 bridge has also received some TLC in form of a new control desk, a patched-up bridge house roof, shiny windows, and a newly installed generator. Mid-July is the expected end date for vehicles to return to this route.
Moving along, the Daigleville Bridge that connects LA 24 to LA 659, a younger bridge bloomed in 2006, is also under C.E.C., Inc.'s care. The crew is playing the waiting game for fabricated bridge cables, with hopes pinned on an early August delivery. Ceiling, brakes, barriers, and lights are getting the fix-up, with October being the target for reopening. On a similar beat, the Bayou Blue Pontoon Bridge, struck by a boat, is being put back together by Reliant Industrial Solutions, LLC. This 1972 structure is seeing a range of repairs, from the apron drive assembly to the rooftop of the bridge house, aiming for an end-of-August finish line.
While bridge closures can twist the day-to-day commutes into knots, DOTD only shuts these passages when it's a matter of safety – a non-negotiable.
