Effective today, July 31, the bridge will open for vehicular traffic only at specific hours which include early morning from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., a midday window from 11:45 p.m. to 12:15 p.m., shortly followed by another from 12:45 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., and finally an evening slot from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., as noted in a DOTD announcement. Those unable to adapt their travel to these intervals will need to detour using the Houma Tunnel on LA 3040 or the LA 24 twin spans; the additional travel time will surely demand some reworking of daily routines maximizing the strain on residents' daily commutes.
