A man from Texas drowned in Oklahoma yesterday afternoon at Lake Murray. Aaron Madrid, a 43-year-old from Denver City, Texas, was reported dead after an incident involving a personal watercraft. According to statements by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol obtained by KOCO, Madrid was operating a Sea-Doo when he attempted to retrieve a fallen hat.
During his attempts to re-board the jet ski, Madrid lost consciousness and, despite wearing a personal flotation device, was swept away by the waves, as the troopers noted. The patrol’s report stated that the incident occurred shortly before 4:55 p.m. Madrid was later brought to shore by boat, where emergency services transported him to a hospital in Ardmore.
However, Madrid's life could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. KXII reported details provided by law enforcement, noting that Madrid had been brought to shore by a pontoon boat in the wake of the accident.
