In Woodward, Oklahoma, a case involving alleged child sexual abuse and a related shooting has led to the arrest of three individuals. According to a social media post from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), the investigation began on June 12 when Krista Fizer observed injuries on her 16-month-old child and brought the child to a local hospital. The hospital then notified the Mooreland Police Department, initiating the response.
The investigation that followed revealed a sequence of events. The hospital requested a pediatric sexual assault examination, which confirmed the child’s injuries were consistent with trauma. During the investigation, 35-year-old Tyler Valdez—identified as Krista Fizer’s boyfriend and the individual responsible for the child’s care at the time—became the primary subject of the allegations. Agents interviewed 31-year-old Fizer, who stated that the child had been in Valdez’s care prior to the discovery of the injuries.
On June 14, two days after the initial report, gunfire was reported at Valdez’s residence around 5:30 a.m., resulting in injuries to him. Special agents, responding to a request from the Woodward County Sheriff’s Office, determined that Fizer had made multiple threats directed at Valdez via Facebook and had physically assaulted him after the child was released from the hospital.
As the investigation progressed, both Krista Fizer and 32-year-old Wayland Martin were formally charged in connection with the shooting. Interviews and evidence gathered at the scene indicated that both individuals were allegedly present at the time of the incident. Fizer was arrested and charged with two counts of Shooting with Intent to Kill, along with additional related offenses. Martin faced the same primary charges. Both individuals were booked into the Woodward County Jail following their arrests.
Further examination by the University of Oklahoma Medical Center Child Protection Team on June 25 brought more clarity to the child's situation. The medical staff concluded that the injuries borne by the child were consistent with abuse, confirming the earlier assessments. As a consequence of these findings, Valdez also found himself behind bars, arrested and booked on charges of Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 12. The OSBI investigation into the series of incidents in Woodward is ongoing as authorities continue working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the events.
