
Three men from Greenback, Tennessee were taken into custody following the execution of a narcotics search warrant by local law enforcement. The Blount County Sheriff's Office, through a social media post, disclosed details of the operation, which saw authorities apprehend Dennis Lee Thomas, age 55, Jeffrey Wayne Cummings, age 48, and William Ray McBurnette, age 38, at a residence located at 5430 Cedar Church Lane. According to the announcement by the Blount County Sheriff's Office, the operation was carried out successfully on July 8th.
Thomas is facing multiple charges, including possession of Schedule II Methamphetamine for resale, and possession of Schedule V Gabapentin for resale, among other related offenses. Cummings has been charged with possession of Schedule II Methamphetamine for resale, and Schedule IV Alprazolam for resale. Meanwhile, McBurnette's arrest was due to unrelated warrants. Specific bond amounts and court dates for the accused had not been set at the time of the announcement.
The arrests represent the conclusion of a focused investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics by the men involved. The Blount County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force - which includes personnel from the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Alcoa Police Department, and Maryville Police Department - spearheaded the investigation that ultimately led to the arrests. The operation resulted in the seizure of 6.5 grams of methamphetamine, 8 dosage units of gabapentin, 9 dosage units of Xanax, and drug paraphernalia.
Reiterating their commitment towards eradicating the local drug trade, "The Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force remains committed to working to keep illicit drugs out of Blount County by thoroughly investigating all narcotics-related complaints," was the statement provided by the Blount County Sheriff's Office. Images of the arrested individuals: Cummings, Thomas, and McBurnette, were also made available, giving a face to the alleged offenders responsible for the drug activities within the community.
