
A Tickfaw man, identified as Ringo Mitchell Jr., 36, has been sentenced to over three years in federal prison for drug trafficking offenses, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office. On July 3, United States District Judge Barry Ashe handed down a 41-month sentence after Mitchell Jr. previously admitted to charges under the Federal Controlled Substances Act, including conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and illegal use of a communication facility.
Mitchell Jr.'s criminal activities were highlighted in the indictment which uncovered an extensive operation involving at least seven other individuals, they conducted their illegal drug distribution through covert communications across Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana; the group was notably distributing both fentanyl and methamphetamine. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, one other person has also entered a guilty plea in this investigation.

The case involving Mitchell Jr. included the efforts of several law enforcement agencies. Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson acknowledged the contributions of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office in the apprehension and prosecution of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Lauren Sarver of the Narcotics Unit prosecuted the case against Mitchell Jr. Multiple law enforcement agencies collaborated on the case, reflecting continued operations targeting drug distribution networks in regions including Tangipahoa Parish.
