The City of Tolleson has once again welcomed the start of a new school year with its 5th Annual Back to School Backpack Giveaway. Held at the Tolleson Parks and Recreation Center, this event catered to the local families, offering backpacks and essential school supplies to the students in need. The successful giveaway was made possible by the support of various sponsors and volunteers who put forth time and resources to promote academic readiness among the youth of Tolleson.
As reported on the City of Tolleson's official website, the lead sponsor for this kind-hearted initiative was Amazon Prime Air, contributing through in-kind donations. They were joined by other benefactors such as Valley Homestead Builders and Blood N Ink, who each donated $500. Helping Families in Need, and a VFW Post, alongside several local sports and military organizations, played their part by donating supplies and volunteering their services. Despite the heat, volunteers worked tirelessly, packing and handing out supplies to lines of students and their parents.
The distributed items catered to all grade levels and spanned a range of necessities. According to the City of Tolleson's announcement, the giveaway included backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, and other critical school supplies. In addition to the educational materials, hygiene kits with deodorant and toothbrushes were also provided, ensuring that students could take care of their wellbeing alongside their academic pursuits.
