Good news for drivers in Tulsa – the construction work that's been causing bottlenecks at the intersection of East 91st Street and South Riverside Drive is now complete. The Tulsa authorities have announced that all lanes are officially open to traffic. The opening comes ahead of schedule, bringing some much-needed relief to the approximately 30,000 vehicles that navigate the area daily.
According to the City of Tulsa's press release, the improvements include a full pavement reconstruction — laid down on a robust, compacted 12-inch foundation — to not only provide a smoother ride but also to greatly better manage the flow of stormwater runoff. These updates aim to ensure longevity for the busy intersection's road surface.
It's worth noting, however, that this isn't the absolute end of the road when it comes to construction here. Drivers should plan to encounter more minor disruptions. Short-term lane closures are expected once again starting Monday, July 8, to safely allow crews to complete the final lane striping.
