Following a reported shooting in Norman, Oklahoma, two individuals have been apprehended by the Norman Police Department (NPD). The incident occurred near an apartment complex pool on the 3300 block of 12th Avenue SE late Tuesday night. A 22-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, according to a press release from the NPD.
Responding to calls at approximately 11:26 p.m., NPD officers located the injured man swiftly. During an apparent altercation between several individuals, a 16-year-old male suspect is alleged to have fired the fatal shot. Afterward, he fled the scene. The victim, subsequently transported to the hospital, did not survive.
Further details emerged regarding the swift arrests made by the police. Witnesses at the scene played a crucial role, enabling officers to promptly pinpoint and detain the parties involved. The teenage suspect faces first degree murder charges, along with possession of a firearm after adjudication.
In connection with the case, 22-year-old Kaydron Hutchins has also been taken into custody. Identified by authorities, Hutchins is charged with accessory after commission of a felony, linked to the events following the shooting. Both the juvenile and Hutchins are being held at the Cleveland County Detention Center.
