A confrontation in Campbell County led to the assault of two deputies and the arrest of two men after a runaway juvenile was found safe on Thursday. According to the WVLT report, the Campbell County Sheriff's Office located the juvenile on Ivey Hollow Road, LaFollette, in the company of Dalton Clear, 22, and John Garner, 57.

The arrest turned violent when Clear reportedly became belligerent, a detail shared by all sources including WBIR. He is said to have kicked the patrol car windows and headbutted the cage inside the vehicle. As a result, deputies sought aid from the LaFollette Police Department during transit due to his aggressive behavior, launching a collaborative effort between the sheriff's office and local police.

“Sheriff Barton thanks the LaFollette Police Department and the Jacksboro Police Department for their assistance during the incident,” the Campbell County Sheriff's Office stated, as obtained by WVLT. The two deputies harmed in the altercation included one deputy who sustained a laceration to the head and received treatment before being released.

As for the charges, Clear faces a litany of counts including: public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, two counts of assault on an officer, two counts of aggravated assault, and four counts of vandalism. Garner was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and harboring a runaway juvenile. Following the incident, Clear complained of head pain and was taken for medical evaluation, he was then released back into sheriff's office custody, as WATE detailed.

The juvenile involved in this case was transported to the Scott County Juvenile Center. Both men, Clear, and Garner, are currently being held at the Campbell County Jail pending further legal action for their involvement in this incident.
