An altercation in Cincinnati's Walnut Hills neighborhood escalated into a double shooting that left two men hospitalized last night. According to Local12, the incident took place at the intersection of Gilbert and Lincoln Avenue when two males were engaged in a physical fight, which was interrupted by a third male attempting to intervene.
During the intervention, one of the original participants in the fight pulled out a firearm and began shooting, striking both the other man involved in the altercation and the man trying to break it up. The victims were listed in serious condition by Cincinnati police, and sources have not indicated any ongoing threat to the public. The scene of the shooting remained an active investigation area as police worked to unravel the circumstances of the incident.
Further reporting by FOX19 revealed that the two men who suffered injuries are aged 53 and 27. The older victim was shot in his stomach and right leg, suffering life-threatening injuries, while the younger man was shot in his chest but is expected to make a recovery.
Despite the severity of the incident, authorities have continued to stress that this was a singular episode. "Police are calling this an isolated incident with no threat or danger to the public," Captain Stephen Bower said, as per FOX19. As of yet, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the investigation by the Cincinnati Police Department remains ongoing, according to information provided by WLWT.
