Atlanta's night was disrupted by gunfire this weekend, leaving two teenagers injured in what appears to be a connected event. According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers were called to 855 Hollywood Road NW last Saturday, responding to a report of a person shot. They arrived to find a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his right arm. He was conscious and transported to the hospital for treatment.
Only a few minutes later, another report drew police to the intersection of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW and Lena Street NW, where they found an additional 15-year-old male with a similar injury to his left arm. Both boys were awake and breathing when found and have since been taken to local hospitals for medical care. The proximity in time and location of the incidents indicates that these shootings may be two halves of a single story.
Aggravated Assault Unit investigators quickly took over the scene in an attempt to piece together the events that led to the double shooting. As of now, the details of what prompted the gunfire remain unclear, and authorities are working to understand the full picture. Updates are anticipated as the Atlanta Police continue to delve into the circumstances of the shooting.
