In a move signaling their intention to swing for the fences next season, the University of Utah's baseball program is beefing up its coaching staff with some fresh expertise. As reported by Utah Utes News, former Utah Tech coach Bobby Rinard has been enlisted as an assistant coach for the Utes, bringing with him a solid track record of elevating baseball programs.
Rinard, who sculpted his coaching chops for 11 seasons at Utah Tech and served as the associate head coach, is expected to step up to the plate for his new role at the U. Henderson, thrilled with his new hire, shared with Utah Utes News, "He is an extremely well-rounded baseball mind, as shown by the impact he made during his long run at Utah Tech." Over his tenure with the Trailblazers, Rinard was not just coaching; he sharpened his skills as a talent scout, serving as the team's recruiting coordinator.
The seasoned coach is no stranger to the game, having played professionally after being drafted by the New York Mets and later joining the New York Yankees. His professional experience, coupled with his coaching prowess, seems to make him a natural fit for a program that's looking to bolster its presence in the powerhouse Big 12 conference.
While at Utah Tech, Rinard achieved a laundry list of accomplishments, including a conference championship and three NCAA Regional appearances, leading to 283 victories. Rinard told Utah Utes News, "The chance to be part of a Big 12 program with a brand-new ballpark on the horizon is one that I am very grateful for." In the same breath, he was sure to tip his cap to his former Utah Tech team, expressing gratitude for his formative years at St. George.
