Heads up, Peoria residents: significant roadwork is coming your way starting in early August. The city has plans to beef up the intersection of Happy Valley Road and Vistancia Boulevard with some additional left turn lanes, meaning northbound travelers on Vistancia Boulevard will have an easier time turning west on Happy Valley Road.
The construction involves putting down electric conduit, installing foundations for traffic signal poles, and, of course, the poles and signals themselves, according to a statement from the City of Peoria. While crews do their thing, roads will stay open, but you can expect some lane and turn restrictions to pop up as needed. Despite the disruptions, they aim to wrap this up by October.
While the inconvenience of roadworks can ruffle some feathers, city officials are keeping an eye on the prize: a smoother, less congested driving experience in the long run. For anyone looking for the lowdown on the project's nitty-gritty, the City of Peoria has set up a project hotline at 602-532-6250.
