Travelers in Utah should brace for roadway disruptions as the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) announces a full overnight closure of Logan Canyon. Scheduled for July 21, the closure will start at 10 p.m. and extend until 7 a.m. the following morning. According to UDOT, the shutdown will allow crews to excavate trenches needed to install new pipework as well as undertake paving, adding rumble strips, and lane re-striping in Logan Canyon, as reported on their official website.

UDOT urges drivers to plan for additional traffic delays occurring over the weekend, with multiple roadway projects on deck. The ramp from Park Lane to southbound Legacy Parkway in Farmington is set to close on July 18 at 11 p.m. and will reopen at 6 a.m. the next day due to concrete works, subsequently, the traffic will be rerouted to southbound Interstate 15, while in Taylorsville, a segment of eastbound 5400 South at 3200 West will be reduced to fewer lanes from July 18 at 9 a.m. through to July 21 early morning as workers replace drainage pipes which will likely cause significant eastbound traffic in the Flex Lanes.

Additionally, in Salt Lake City, the off-ramp from southbound Interstate 15 to 9000 South, Exit 295, is slated for closure from July 19 at 11 p.m. until July 21 at 5 a.m. to facilitate paving operations. With a spate of these construction activities planned, UDOT acknowledges that all schedules are contingent upon weather conditions and may be subject to last-minute changes.
