UTEP Athletics has announced key promotions within its External Relations department, aiming to bolster its branding and creative exploration, as reported by UTEP Athletics. Christopher Muñoz has been appointed as the Director of Graphic Design, while Paul Sandoval has taken up the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Strategy. Jim Senter, UTEP Vice President and Director of Athletics, expressed his enthusiasm for the promotions, saying, "Christopher and Paul are valuable members of our External Relations unit, and we're thrilled to recognize them for their contributions to the team," as per UTEP Athletics.
Muñoz, returning to UTEP Athletics in August of 2023, has a history of enhancing the university's brand presence and has been credited with strengthening visual identity across diverse platforms. Working with MinerVision Productions and the branding program, his efforts have not gone unnoticed. According to Senter's statement obtained by UTEP Athletics, "Christopher is highly skilled and continues to produce tremendous graphic work for us, while assisting with MinerVision productions and our branding program." Muñoz's collaboration with Marketing and Van Wagner has resulted in, with the experience working with Daktronics Show Control, themes and sponsorship elements for UTEP home games, execution help.
On the other hand, Paul Sandoval has been significant in elevating UTEP Athletics' prominence on the national stage. As the former Senior Producer since February 2022, his strategic direction has sparked the production of engaging content, which includes everything from promotional features to multi-platform campaigns. These efforts have garnered over 20 million views across UTEP Athletics' social media platforms. Sandoval told UTEP Athletics, "Our MinerVision staff consistently producing innovative, award-winning content," reflecting the department's growing reputation in content creation.
Notably, Sandoval's leadership has also earned the MinerVision crew accolades, securing the title of Best Video Production Company in the 2024 El Paso Inc. Best of El Paso competition. Under his direction, the '915' campaign became a hallmark of UTEP Athletics, increasing its visibility and impact. Sandoval, having been named Best Photographer and Videographer by the El Paso Times, has led high-impact initiatives that constantly go beyond expectations. The multi-platform campaigns that have generated over 20 million views were led by Sandoval and his team across UTEP Athletics' social platforms, which is no small feat given the competitive landscape of collegiate sports media.
