Utility player Kate Blunt is making the move to join the Utes this fall, the Utah softball program proudly announced yesterday. Bringing her talents to Salt Lake City, Blunt wraps up a standout four-season tenure with the UCLA Bruins, which saw her appear in a dozen games. She also touts a spotless defensive record, boasting a 1.000 fielding percentage as a testament to her prowess on the field.
Coach Amy Hogue was thrilled about the new acquisition, stating, "We're excited to add Kate Blunt to our program. She's a true athlete with a strong background in both baseball and softball." According to an announcement on the Utah Utes' official website, Hogue praised Blunt's defensive skills, her arm strength, and her work ethic. She continued to express her anticipation, remarking, "We can't wait to get her here this fall!"
Blunt's career hasn't been limited just to college softball; she also has international experience under her belt. In 2019, she played for the U.S. Women's Baseball National Team and contributed to their gold-medal victory at the COPABE Women's Pan American Championships. More recently, in 2024, Blunt pitched a scoreless inning at the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Finals, demonstrating her ability to perform in high-pressure situations.
