Local kids in Wake Forest have a chance to hang with the fuzz and score some free school swag next month. The Wake Forest Police Department is stepping outside the station to mingle with the younger crowd, hosting a couple of "Too Cool for School" back-to-school events slated for Aug. 20, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. As per the details shared by the Town of Wake Forest's official announcement, these gatherings are set at two community faves: Taylor Street Park and Joyner Park Community Center.
Taylor Street Park at 416 N. Taylor St. will feature a sprayground event with police officers joining in the activities. At Joyner Park Community Center (701 Harris Road), kids can play basketball with Wake Forest police officers. These events aim to build positive connections between officers and local youth.
In addition to the fun, kids will receive free school supplies like pens, pencils, and rulers. These giveaways help students get ready for the new school year and ease the burden on families.
